ARB SS60HF Safari Snorkel Kit Review

Well this is a interesting chance to review a product that I still have but purchased and installed 9 years ago. Wow a product that still looks brand new after 9 years in the Texas sun even with hard off road use. Here is the story of why I bought this product; I had only had my Jeep TJ a short while and went mudding with some family and friends, OK it was more like swamping LOL! When I got home and was cleaning the rig for about 8 hours, I found mud and water were in the bottom of my air filter box. I thought back to that one hole I dropped off in and how the water came over the hood for just a few seconds even with my 4" Old Man Emu lift and 33" tires. I thought wow what if that had been for just a few seconds more, I would have lost my engine! So the next week I ordered a Safari Snorkel from Dirk at DPG Off Road. It came in a few days later and I cut a hole in the side of my Jeep to install, you should have seen my wife's face as I cut into that new Jeep's body LOL! A couple of hours later the install was complete and we both loved the tough look it added to the Jeep! People (non Jeepers that is) are always asking me what does that do, or what is that thing! I have never had water in the air box again and this well designed product from ARB USA has never faded or cracked even though it has taken some hard hits from limbs and rocks! The hardware has not corroded either! This install is not for the faint of heart because you will be cutting a hole in your jeep, but it is not hard and there are good directions and a template on where to cut the hole for right or left hand drive. I do recommend buying some blue painters tape and some black paint to paint the edge of the hole to prevent rust. All in all I would say you will get your money's worth out of this product and it will separate your rig from the pavement pounders.
